Supervises nursing home staff and nursing activities, including resident care and record-keeping. Assist in managing the nursing staff assigned to a particular shift within the nursing home. Takes action regarding provision of resources within the context of shifts or designated time frame. Assigns residents to available nursing staff, taking into consideration the resident’s condition and the employee’s skill level.
Effectively relates to others, either individually or in groups. Ability to direct him/herself, managing time effectively and setting a positive example. Focuses on action and getting results. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Recognizes problems and recommends solutions. Reacts calmly and effectively in emergencies.
Assists in conducting new staff training and orientation regarding operating rules and working standards. Knowledge of clinical practices, strategic planning, administrative, and financial principles. Provides effective onboarding, education, and training to assure staff competencies. Provides ongoing coaching, mentoring and performance feedback for staff to succeed.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a long term care setting with prior management experience preferred. Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse or Licensed LPN in South Dakota. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
