CRNA AL SCHMITT NAMED TO SOUTH DAKOTA ASSOCIATION NURSE ANESTHETISTS BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Al Schmitt, a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthestist (CRNA) at Winner Regional Healthcare Center, has been named to the South Dakota Association of Nurse Anesthetists (SDANA) Board of Directors for 2010.
The Board of Directors for SDANA represent approximately 240 nurse anesthetists who currently practice in South Dakota. SDANA seeks to promote high-quality anesthesia care by providing continuing education for it's members, and working to ensure cooperation between all members of the health care team. The organization also monitors and seeks to impact policy legislation on matters that pertain to nursing and nurse anesthesia.
Nurse anesthetists were the first providers of anesthesia in South Dakota. In 1950, 15 nurse anesthetists established SDANA. Today, nurse anesthetists provide quality care in every hospital where surgical services are offered. CRNA's are the only anesthesia providers in 76% of South Dakota hospitals, including 100% of the state's rural hospitals.
Al is not only dedicated to SDANA, but has also been noted for his excellent service to his patients. Winner Regional Healthcare Center would like to thank Al for his committment to his profession, his fellow staff, and most importantly, his patients.
