FOUNDATION BOARD SELECTS 2009 HOLIDAY FESTIVAL PROJECT

(WINNER, SD) Winner Regional Foundation has announced that the funds raised at this year’s Holiday Festival will be used to enhance and improve the cardiac rehabilitation equipment for heart attack and stroke patients at Winner Regional Healthcare Center.
Cardiac rehabilitation is a monitored strengthening of the heart with a concurrent education program to improve current health practices and decrease the risk of further cardiac episodes.
The funds raised from this year’s event will allow Outpatient Services to purchase a new wireless telemetry monitor, providing a safe and comfortable cardiac rehab experience for each patient while obtaining more accurate, concise and customized reports for our cardiology and family medicine teams.
“Winner Regional Outpatient Services provided almost 300 episodes of cardiac rehabilitation in 2008,” added Linda Schueth, Outpatient Services Supervisor. “With our aging community and obesity rates increasing nationwide, I think it’s safe to say heart disease will be an ongoing issue for health care. We want to provide the safest and most up-to-date equipment we can to ensure our patients are getting the most accurate readouts and treatment.”
Winner Regional Foundation’s Holiday Festival is set for Saturday, December 5th at St. Mary’s Hall in Winner. This year’s theme is Copper Christmas and the evening will feature wine tasting, live and silent auctions, an elegant dinner and a dance. Tickets will be available soon.
