SPRING HEALTHFAIR PLANNED FOR MAY 15

A number of free and reduced cost health screenings will be available to the public later this spring as Winner Regional Healthcare Center hosts their 2009 HealthFair Friday, May 15 from 7am-1:30pm at the hospital and long term care facility.
“We try to provide a few more screenings at the HealthFair each year.” said Tovi Cox Bartels, Communications. “If you’ve made a commitment to take charge of your health by utilizing preventive screenings, this event is definitely for you. “
In addition to a number of health education and information booths, participants will be able to undergo of free blood pressure checks, free pulmonary function testing, free sun damage screenings and free body fat analysis. Other available screens include an Ankle Brachial Index screening, lab tests to monitor glucose, hemoglobin and lipid panels and a thyroid test by TSH, all available for a nominal fee. “We do ask that participants observe an 8-hour fast before having lab screens,” explained Cox Bartels.
Information on infection control, living will/power of attorney, nutrition and tobacco cessation will also be presented at the HealthFair.
The facility will host a chamber Before Hours pancake breakfast May 15th. Winner Regional will also host a 2-day blood drive, May 14 & 15 with United Blood Services.
“The entire staff at Winner Regional is very excited to invite the public up for this year’s HealthFair,” added Cox Bartels. “It’s a way for us to show appreciation to the community for their patronage and an opportunity for all to learn more about staying fit, staying healthy and living our best life.”
